Guidelines for applying for a grant from the Simons Foundation Fund

On May 25th 2018, a new privacy law (General Data Protection Regulation) went into effect. In accordance with the provisions of the new law, we have provided an explanation of how the Simons Foundation Fund deals with your personal data.

If you apply for a grant to help cover the costs of attending a conference or visiting an institute abroad, the Simons Foundation Fund uses the personal data provided with your grant application, which you have uploaded to the website.

The Simons Foundation Fund uses this information so you can be contacted by telephone and to inform you in writing of the decisions of the board regarding the grant application, the report of the visit and its final decision. We also use the bank information you have provided for making the financial transfer if the grant is approved.

The Simons Foundation Fund retains this personal data for 7 years. If the grant application is rejected, this data is retained for 6 months.

The Simons Foundation Fund provides your personal data to third parties only to comply with its statutory obligations.

You have the right to view, correct or remove your personal data, provided that the Simons Foundation Fund can continue to comply with its statutory obligations. You can send a request for access, correction or removal to simonsfonds@umcutrecht.nl. The Simons Foundation Fund will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but within four weeks at the latest.

The Simons Foundation Fund makes every effort to protect your personal data, including appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification.
